Focus on impact and public value

Public broadcasters are constantly competing with commercial broadcasters and social media channels. However, their revenue models are completely different. The value development is characterized by involvement, public value, and societal value programing. CF Report designed the impact dashboards based on a separate KPI analysis. This enables the NPO to clearly demonstrate its position as Europe’s most cost-effective public broadcaster. The reporting thus strengthens NPO’s license to grow.

Strategy

Value creation as central theme

A central theme in NPO’s reporting, such as in the Annual Report, Review, and Budget is the shift from costs to value and from reach to impact. Viewer ratings are important of course, however the impact of programing on a well-functioning society where everyone feels heard and represented is key. CF Report developed a reporting framework based on societal values. Each report is enriched with an update on diversity, independence, pluriformity, innovation, and beliefs with a combination of realized effects based on appealing examples.

Connecting and informing

In the public broadcasting system, NPO coordinates and facilitates the programs that are produced by the broadcasters. The public broadcaster’s mission is to connect and inform everyone in the Netherlands and to promote public values. In a fragmented media landscape with a declining viewing and listening trends, the NPO still plays a large role. Impact reporting is of crucial importance in this respect.

Visual and digital
CF Report is NPO’s reporting partner. We convert policy-driven and text-oriented accountability documents into visually attractive impactful reports. For the near future, the relevance of ESG is being looked into and steps are being taken in a digital reporting platform so that programing, societal impact, and information on the organization are combined in one platform.
