Transparency as the focal point

With over 35,000 employees, KLM realized revenues in excess of €12 billion in 2023. Since KLM started working together with CF Report in 2021 for its reporting, its annual report has undergone a considerable metamorphosis, from a text-driven to a primarily visual and transparent report. In this case, used is made of the tool Worklva/WDesk.

Strategy

Cleaner, quieter, and more efficient

As an airline offering passenger and cargo flights to destinations worldwide, KLM has a large network of destinations and operates a modern and varied fleet of 221 airplanes, which is regularly modernized to improve efficiency and reduce the environmental impact.

KLM invests in fuel-efficient airplanes and biofuels and participates in various initiatives to reduce its CO2 emissions. Innovation is an important part of KLM’s strategy. In January 2024, KLM presented its vision on the future of the airline industry in the Netherlands. This vision was translated into ten commitments, with which KLM hopes to draw up a joint action plan with the Dutch public, politicians, partners, and sector-wide parties with the aim to make the airline industry cleaner, quieter, and more efficient.

Meta­morphosis in transparency

With a strong focus on innovation in the field of reporting, KLM has been a customer at CF Report since 2021. In 2022, the report was transformed from a largely text-driven report into a visual and transparent report. This transformation process was continued in 2023 with a series of well-defined dashboards and strong visuals for profile, strategy, value creation, history, important events, finance, people, and sustainability. Engaging interviews offer insights into important highlights in 2023, including fleet renewal. An extra Sustainability Statements section was added based on CSRD criteria with a focus on double materiality, climate change, air quality management, waste management and circular economy. This has resulted in a much more transparent report.
