On 21 November 2017, the Crystal Prizes for the most transparent annual reports were awarded in Driebergen. Vion, an international meat producer with a leading position in Europe, received the Crystal Prize for the fastest climber in the Transparency Benchmark 2017. In 2016, the company reached a total of 38 points. This year, Vion took 128 points, which is up 92 positions, going from place 204 to 112 on the Transparency Benchmark, just below the top 100. The jury about the Vion CSR report: ‘The greatest difference compared with prior reporting is that this year, a CSR report was prepared for the first time. This thorough report included crucial components such as a value creation model, a description of the value chain and information with regard to the stakeholder dialogue. The way in which material topics and the value creation model are connected with each other, in particular, is remarkably accurate.’
Distinctive creative concept
Starting in November 2016, C&F Report has worked hard on the CSR report. Together with our CSR food consultant Marja Vermeulen and Vion all relevant steps were made, from stakeholder dialogue, materiality and value creation to text and integrated design. Within a distinctive creative concept the desire of Vion to move transparency higher on the agenda of the meat industry was realised in a clear design and reporting structure. Of course, it is great that the jury of the Transparency Benchmark recognizes it as a major step forward.
Also other clients of C&F Report made leaps and bounds in the Transparency Benchmark, for example, EY, Kendrion, Royal FloraHolland and Stern Group. League-leader is and remains Schiphol Airport Group. Schiphol was nominated for the Crystal Prize (along with Royal BAM Group, Alliander and Siemens) and ended third with 197 of the 200 points. In 2015, Schiphol Airport Group won the award for most innovative annual report, C&F Report being responsible for the design.
