The 2016 annual report of Aalberts Industries has been nominated for the Henri Sijthoff Award in the AEX-listed companies category. The jury calls above all the large listed companies for a quality improvement.
‘They are the elite of the listed companies, but that radiates not always by their financial reporting,’ we read in the jury report. ‘There are companies with better reports – both from the category other companies and unlisted companies. ‘Every year it is only a limited group that at all qualifies; according to the jury the reporting of a large part of the 25 biggest companies is already many years below par. Especially in the category non-listed companies there is much more quality than several years ago, in the eyes of the jury. ‘A huge improvement.’
Aalberts Industries: briefly and a nice readable annual report
The jury says about the nominated companies that ‘the annual report of Aalberts is short and pleasant to read. The company also writes about tax policy – a hot topic since the discussions around the Panama Papers – and on the strategy. ‘
In close cooperation with C&F Report Aalberts Industries (revenue 2016 over € 2.5 billion, approx. 15,300 employees) significantly improved its 2015 report. This line is further carried through in the 2016 annual report, with additional improvements. The magic words are: compact, visually, transparent. C&F Report has visually displayed all the consolidated key figures in one opening dashboard. After a brief explanation of the Management Board the profile of Aalberts is clearly visualised in one spread, and the four businesses are also compact visually introduced: key figures, profile and focus. The strategy, based on four pillars, is transparently explained in one visual. As elaboration of this strategy the objectives are visually explained on one page.
In the Report of the Management Board following a second key figures dashboard each division is briefly explained. CSR and Risk are visually and shortly summarized. Special attention is paid to The Aalberts Way and Talent Development. The report breathes the high technological level of the solutions Aalberts Industries offers its customers by using high-tech photos, partly provided by C&F Report. The annual accounts are compact and tight.
